April marked Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time when communities across Georgia came together to raise awareness, promote education, and strengthen families in the fight against child abuse and neglect. Throughout the month, local organizations and families united in powerful ways—hosting events, planting pinwheel gardens, and sharing vital resources—to underscore the shared responsibility we all have in protecting children. This collective effort served not only as a reminder of the challenges many families face, but also as a testament to the strength of a connected, compassionate community determined to ensure every child grows up safe, supported, and loved.
Day at the Capitol
Before CAP month kicked off, PCA Georgia and the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services, Prevention and Community Support Section met with prevention partners at the capitol in March. A proclamation was signed by Governor Kemp in acknowledgment of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. District 42 State Senator, Elena Parent, was a liaison for this year’s event at the Gold Dome. Thank you to all councils, partners, and child-advocates who support our day at the capitol.

Rebrand Launch
In March, Prevent Child Abuse Georgia rebranded to Positive Childhood Alliance Georgia.
The new name, Positive Childhood Alliance Georgia, embodies a belief in the power of collaboration to enact lasting change. PCA Georgia strives to create a future where children flourish in safe, nurturing homes and communities by focusing on what families need – when and where they need it, without stigma.
“We are honored by the trust shown to our organization as we prepared for this transformational shift in how we approach collective action around how to best support children and families.”-PCA Georgia Executive Director Jennifer L. Stein.
This rebrand reflects a renewed vision of hope, collaboration, and positivity. While the name has changed, our mission remains steadfast: ensuring all children can grow up in safe, loving environments.
PCA Georgia kicked off this CAP month with a brand launch party to celebrate our new identity as Positive Childhood Alliance Georgia. Our new prevention cheerleader and mascot, Blue, joined the PCA Georgia staff and 50+ attendees for food, games, and a photo-booth. The successful day ended in front of the Georgia’s Own Billboard which promoted Child Abuse Prevention in downtown Atlanta.

Celebrating Georgia Families Across Georgia
For the second year, three family-friendly outreach events focused on offering families resources that support prevention efforts. Celebrating Georgia Families – Be the Village events were held in April, reaching hundreds of families.
Across Georgia, councils commemorated the month with events that raised awareness and engaged local communities. The Children’s Haven, also known as PCA Cherokee, represented North Georgia prevention efforts while distributing resources at the Upriver Festival. Metro counties engaged with PCA Georgia at the Dogwood festival where over 2,700+ resource kits were distributed. PCA Coastal Coalition and PCA Greater Savannah put on their own Celebrating Georgia Families: Be the Village event complete with resources, bouncy castles, and a magician. What a creative way to engage the community!
These events were made possible by the Prevention and Community Support Section, Georgia Division of Children and Families Services.
See photos of each event by visiting the Celebrating Georgia Families’ webpage.

Blue’s Debut
As part of the Positive Childhood Alliance Georgia rebrand, we introduced Blue as our new brand ambassador.
Inspired by the timeless comfort of a teddy bear, Blue symbolizes joy, resilience, and the carefree spirit of childhood. Throughout the month, Blue made visits to local council outreach events and resource fairs, reminding us of the power of strong families and bright futures.
Blue has already been on a Road Tour of Local Council Outreach Events at PCA Ogeechee (Child Advocacy Services SEGA, Inc), PCA Bulloch, PCA Athens (Brightpaths), PCA Cobb (Cobb Collaborative, Inc), PCA Floyd (Exchange Club Family Resource Center), and PCA Greater Augusta (Child Enrichment).
Follow Blue, on PCA Georgia’s social media accounts, as he continues to travel the state as an Ambassador for children.
