Child abuse prevention leaders from across the state gathered in Macon on Feb. 19 for the semi-annual Prevent Child Abuse Georgia Director’s meeting.
At a meeting held at the Methodist Home for Children & Youth, PCA Georgia representatives updated council directors, staff, and other partners.
Attendees heard about PCA Georgia’s activities, including the upcoming rebrand from Prevent Child Abuse Georgia to Positive Childhood Alliance Georgia. Additionally, attendees learned more about this year’s Child Abuse Prevention Month Theme, Powered by Hope, Strengthened by Prevention.
According to PCA Georgia Executive Director Jennifer Stein, the group reviewed the available tools created for councils to help amplify messaging during this important awareness month.
“One of the morning’s highlights was meeting our new mascot, Blue; this new brand ambassador will be available for local councils to request to attend their local outreach events, bringing joy to children across the state,” Stein said.
Stein said the writing workshop supports efforts to connect storytelling with fundraising and was timed to support its councils for participation in PCA America’s national day of giving scheduled for April 25.
“This is the second writing session we’ve hosted for our council leadership,” Stein said. “Now more than ever, crafting a compelling, authentic narrative for donors to understand the value of our efforts to strengthen families. Through the workshop, we discussed creating urgency around our aligned vision of healthy families free from child abuse where all members feel safe, respected, and supported.”
The Collaborative Training Company representatives, Brenda Johnson and Isha Ashan Lee, led the workshop.
